The Republican-led House of Representatives voted 214 to 213 to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, making him the first sitting Cabinet secretary to face such charges in almost 150 years.
The charges accuse Mayorkas of willfully neglecting to enforce border laws, framing it as a breach of public trust.
The charges against Mayorkas are expected to face rejection in the Democratic-led Senate, where a conviction would require a two-thirds majority.
