Washington DC mayor declares curfew amid unrest

Mayor of the District of Columbia Muriel Bowser announced on Wednesday a citywide curfew beginning from 6:00 pm ET amid the continuing demonstrations in the capital.

The announcement follows the news that Washington had used tear gas and asked the National Guard’s help to calm the civil unrest.

The United States Congress went into an unexpected lockdown amid the protests that emerged after Vice President Mike Pence refused President Donald Trump’s request to overturn the results of the 2020 elections.
