During the recent Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summits held in Riyadh on November 11 and 12, significant opposition arose among some Arab countries. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Bahrain have categorically refused the idea of inflicting an oil embargo on Israel, as well as any proposal to freeze relations with the Jewish state.
According to information from the Hürriyet newspaper, these countries clearly voiced their position during the discussions. The proposal, which included measures such as an oil embargo and banning Israeli planes from Arab airspace, was rejected by those nations who said they did not desire to compromise their power and personal interests.
The newspaper points out that, despite the gravity of the situation in Gaza and the ongoing genocide, the leaders of these countries have chosen to remain silent and not take significant action. This divergence of positions within the Arab world reflects the tensions and divergent interests that persist in the region.
