WHO asks China for regular, rapid COVID data

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed concern over the spread of coronavirus in China on Wednesday following the authorities’ decision to ease its pandemic measures, and urged Beijing to release “more regular, rapid” data on hospitalizations, deaths and vaccinations in the country.

“WHO is concerned about the risk to life in China and has reiterated the importance of vaccination, including booster doses to protect against hospitalization, severe disease and death,” the health agency’s director-general said at a virtual conference.
