World Health Organization (WHO) regional director for Europe Dr Hans Kluge said on Saturday that the continent could see 500,000 deaths from COVID-19 by March unless more drastic action is taken.
Speaking to the BBC, Kluge said that tightening measures around mask wearing, vaccinations and COVID passes would help and that the latter is “not a restriction of liberty, rather it is a tool to keep our individual freedom.”
Dr Kluge also said that while mandatory vaccination should be considered a “last resort,” discussing such measures is appropriate.
