World Bank’s President Malpass to step down

World Bank Group President David Malpass announced his resignation on Wednesday, revealing he would be leaving his post by the end of June after serving the position for four years, thus concluding his tenure before the term’s end.

“Thanks to our dedicated staff in over 130 locations around the world, we have implemented consecutive surges of financing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, war in Ukraine, sharp global economic slowdown, unsustainable debt burdens, climate change, and food, fertilizer, and energy shortages,” Malpass wrote in the statement.
