Zelensky, Macron talk Russian referenda, ‘nuclear blackmail’

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron talked over the phone  about the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Zelensky’s office announced.

The two leaders discussed Russia’s alleged “nuclear blackmail,” underscoring the need to demilitarize the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant which has been shelled numerous times since Moscow launched its military operation in February. The two also agreed on the need for a “tough, consolidated” response to Russia’s annexation of four Ukrainian territories in the Donbas, according to the statement.
