125 arrested at pro-Palestinian protest in Amsterdam

A pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Amsterdam was dismantled on Tuesday and around 125 people were arrested, Amsterdam police said. The incident is the latest in a string of police crackdowns on pro-Palestinian university protests in Europe and the United States.

The police said their presence was “necessary to restore order and prevent escalation” after protesters refused to leave the campus. It conceded that images shared on social media could “sometimes look intense” but did not share details on possible casualties resulting from clashes with protesters.
