17 dead in latest clashes in Peru

The number of people who died in the latest Peru unrest rose to 17 on Tuesday, according to AFP news agency.

The people were killed during clashes between security personnel and demonstrators trying to storm an airport in the country’s southeastern city of Juliaca.

The protesters are demanding the removal of President Dina Boluarte who took office in December after then-President Pedro Castillo was ousted.
