A 5.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in eastern Turkey, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The epicenter was some 44 kilometers northeast of the city of Van, home to around 370,190 people according to the 2012 Census.
The tremor struck the region at a depth of 2 kilometers, however, it remains unknown as of yet whether it resultet in any casualties or damages.
