4 ISIS leaders killed in joint US-Iraqi forces raid

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said it carried out a joint raid with the Iraq Security Forces in which 4 Islamic State leaders were eliminated.

The operation took place in western Iraq on August 29, CENTCOM said in a post published on X, formerly Twitter. Its goal was to prevent ISIS from conducting attacks against Iraqi civilians, US forces, and allies in the region. The ISIS operatives killed in the raid were identified as Ahmad Hamid Husayn Abd-al-Jalil al-Ithawi, Abu Hammam, Abu-‘Ali al-Tunisi, and Shakir Abud Ahmad al-Issawi. According to CENTCOM, they were responsible for overseeing the militant organization’s operations and technical development in Iraq.

“CENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS, who continues to threaten the United States, our allies and partners, and regional stability,” CENTCOM commander Michael Kurilla said.
