President Kais Saied received Italian Minister of Interior Luciana Lamorgese at Carthage presidential palace.
During the meeting, Italy stressed its support for Tunisia and its readiness to gave the aid it needs. The meeting also addressed Irregular migration to Italy.
The head of the state stressed on this occasion, the strong relationships between Tunisia and Italy and the importance of further strengthening them in a manner consistent with the convergence of visions between the two sides.
He further stressed the need of joining the international community’s efforts to seek a new way to address the phenomenon of irregular migration, stating that security solutions are not enough to address it.
The President of the Republic further considered that the issue of irregular migration is essentially a humanitarian issue, consequently, its causes must be approached. He also added that migration is not the answer but rather that the solution lies in the cooperation of different countries to attain solutions to ensure the survival of these migrants in their countries and is a collective responsibility.
