In a special interview with France 24, prime minister Hichem Mechichi addressed several issues including the repatriation of Tunisian nationals residing in France irregularly, the financial situation of the nation as well as what is currently occurring in the Aïn Skhouna region.
“Each Tunisian national in an irregular position is repatriated in a statutory manner”, declared the head of government.
He stressed the obligation to uphold human rights during the repatriation process.
“We are persuaded that France is a nation which respects human rights,” he said, adding that Tunisia backs France in its battle against extremism and terrorism.
On another level, Mechichi dismissed reports that Tunisia is bankrupt, recognising at the same time that the economic situation of the country is extremely critical, according to his statements.
He added that the government is operating to develop legislation on investment, exchange and currency, concluding that the current laws represent a hindrance on the economy.
Regarding the clashes between the residents of Douz and Béni Khdech, Mr Mechichi evoked that these arguments date back to the era of dictatorship, adding that there are parties who are set to undermine the State, without quoting them.
Regarding the political belt of his government, Mechichi asserted that all parties who want to support his government are welcome.
