Tunisia-Conflict of Interest: Public Service Oversight Committee finds Fakhfakh guilty

The General Control Authority of Public Services (ICGSP) condemned former prime minister Elyes Fakhfakh in the framework of the agreements arranged between the company “VALIS” and the National Agency for Waste Management (ANGED).
The final report of the body was presented on Monday, January 18, 2021, to the Committee for Administrative Reform and the Fight against Corruption. Representatives of the ICGSP, cited by Mosaique FM, affirmed that Fakhfakh was indeed in a situation of conflict of interest, in addition to the presence of many infractions in the way in which the concluded agreements were granted on the basis of the favouritism and lack of respect for specifications.
According to them, these are flawed agreements that do not meet the statutory conditions. In addition, several recommendations were issued to follow errors in transactions and send the file to the financial judicial pole.
Yasser Toukabri, a member of the body, pointed the finger at the Ministry of the Environment, the evaluation committee and the National Waste Management Agency in this matter.
