Forest rangers found a dead Cuvier’s gazelle in Jebel Serj national park, said the head of the Forestry Administration Haithem El Amri. The gazelle is suspected to have perished due to plastic left by visitors.
In a statement to Mosaïque FM El Amri affirmed that a veterinarian will examine the causes of the gazel death. If confirmed this may lead to severe sanctions including the park closure for an infinite period until the resettlement project of the gazelles which began three years ago completes and pave the way to release the third generation of the rare animal in Djebel Serj outside the reservation.
