Tunisia-Little girl arrived alone in Lampedusa: Italian justice issues ruling

The Ministry of Women, Family, Childhood, and Elderly announced that Italian justice allowed, this Monday, October 21, 2022, the general delegate of child protection in Tunis to take charge of the four-year-old girl, who arrived alone at the island of Lampedusa, pending the fulfillment of the measures required to ensure the return of the girl to her family.

It should be recollected that the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, had ordered, on October 21, to set up a follow-up cell, composed of ministries, justice, foreign affairs, and women, in order to take the measures necessary for the repatriation of the child.

For its part, the Ministry of Women has instructed the general delegate of child protection to go, on October 22, 2022, in Italy with the purpose of coordinating with the Tunisian consular services and the Italian authorities to ensure the repatriation of the child to Tunisia.
