AFCON 2024 – Gr E: Tunisia and Mali ends in tie 1-1 (video)

The first match of J2 of Group E, at the Amadou Gon Koulibaly Stadium in Korhogo (20,000 seats), between the two selections nicknamed “the Eagles” promised to be thrilling.

While they are well inspired to win, to avoid a mini-crisis, the Eagles of Carthage shared the stakes with the Malians (1-1).

Disappointing against Namibia, the Carthage Eagles found colour again by scoring one of the most stunning goals of this AFCON by Hamza Rafia and aiming for a better run than the 1/4 final stage reached during the previous edition in Cameroon.

As for the Malians, in line with their first match against South Africa, they showed guarantees, both behind and in front. With this draw, they are undefeated in these 9 recently played games, but they also remain on a 0-1 win against the Tunisians, 10 against 11, during their last confrontation at the AFCON in January 2022.

Match formations
Tunisia: Ben Saïd – Kechrida, Meriah, Talbi, Abdi – Skhiri, Laidouni, Rafia (Srarfi) – Ben Slimane (Ben Romdhane), Achouri (Ltaeif), Msakni (Jaziri);

Mali: Diarra – Sacko, Niakaté, Kouyaté, Traoré – Haïdara, Samassekou, Coulibaly – Sinayoko, Doumbia, Koita.
