AFCON 2024-Nigeria beats South Africa and reaches the final

Nigeria is the first selection to qualify for the final of the 34th edition of AFCON 2024. The Super Eagles validated their ticket after defeating the South Africans (1-1, 4 TAB 2).

Placing themselves as the best defence of the tournament with just one goal conceded and 4 consecutive clean sheets, before the South African penalty goal scored by Teboho Mokoena, the Osimhen squad is still undefeated and displaying a great run with 6 successive matches without defeat.

Therefore, the Super Eagles are earning a solid and coherent competition, capable of allowing them to lift the trophy for the fourth time after 1980, 1994 and 2013.

On the other hand, Bafana Bafana were keen to take their vengeance against an opponent who had eliminated them in the quarter-finals of AFCON 2019 (2-1). But they failed despite Ronwen Williams, who was particularly brilliant in the quarter-final against Cape Verde, and who failed to save captain William Troost-Ekong’s penalty (67′ – video).

Nigeria will face the Ivory Coast or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final, who play from 9:00 p.m.
