Algerian gendarmerie seize thousands of narcotics tablets near Tunisian border

Members of the Algerian gendarmerie research team in Bir El Ater, on the border with Tunisia, have dismantled a criminal network and seized a substantial quantity of foreign-made and smuggled narcotic pills.

In a press release on Monday, the Gendarmerie indicated that the investigation started based on information obtained by brigade members, indicating the presence of criminal activity related to a network implicated in the smuggling and illegal trade of pills.

The statement noted, “After activating the inquiry, the location of the shipment was determined. Following this, the area was combed, the psychotropic substances were seized, and a member of the network was apprehended .”

As a result of the operation, more than 14,000 hallucinogenic tablets of Pregabalin 300 mg were seized, and one person was arrested.

Following the completion of all legal procedures, a judicial file was prepared, and the suspect was presented before the relevant judicial authorities. Inquiries are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the network.
