United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken will postpone his visit to China after a controversial balloon appeared in the skies over the state of Montana earlier this week, ABC News reported on Friday.
America’s top diplomat decided to take that step as he wanted to avoid canceling it and potentially escalating the situation and also not make the balloon incident the main topic of his exchanges in Beijing, according to an unnamed US official who spoke to the media outlet. Blinken was reportedly set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in person over his planned two-day trip to the People’s Republic.
