Borrell ‘appalled’ by death toll after refugee camp attack

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in a post published on social media X on Wednesday that he is “appalled by the high number of casualties following the bombing by Israel of the Jabalia refugee camp.”

He emphasized that the laws of war and humanity must always be respected, including in the provision of humanitarian assistance, adding that the right to defend oneself must always be in balance with the responsibility to spare civilians. Borrell concluded by saying that “with each passing day, as the situation becomes more and more dire, this is more urgent than ever.”
