European Union’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell cautioned on Monday that the world has entered a “messy multipolarity” where the sides will be divided based on whether they are democratic or autocratic regimes.
Speaking at this year’s EU Ambassadors Conference, Borrell insisted that Russian President Vladimir Putin prompted radical nationalism and imperialism to arise in Russia amidst the war in Ukraine.
Borrell likewise told reporters that the EU must be more proactive when it comes to solving ongoing global challenges, such as the Ukraine clashes, but also climate change and food insecurity. Nevertheless, the world isn’t ready to follow the EU’s model, he concluded.
