The global death toll from the novel coronavirus surpassed the 600.000 mark on Saturday, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Data compiled by the university showed that the number of deaths worldwide has reached 603 279 while 7 913 793 people have recovered.
There are also 14 129 795 confirmed cases worldwide, according to the university, with 3 647 715 recorded so far in the US, making it the country with the most infections.
Brazil, which has the largest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Latin America, also has the second-highest number of cases worldwide with 2 046 328 followed by India with 1 039 084 and Russia with 764 215.
