The COP27 United Nations climate conference will be extended by one day, host country Egypt announced on Friday. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stated that “we need to shift gears again, time is not on our side” as the summit participants discuss financial support for countries impacted by climate change.
“I remain committed to bringing this conference to a close tomorrow in an orderly manner,” Shoukry added. The UN previously revealed that total pledges and contributions for 2022 to the Adaptation Fund have now reached more than $230 million.
