Earthquake shakes Turkey, no casualties reported

An earthquake of a magnitude of 5.4 rocked western Turkey late Wednesday, urging civilians to go outdoors.

Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced in a statement that the earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale and took place in Aegean Manisa province’s Akhisar district.

Two aftershocks were also reported after the quake. Three minutes after the quake, neighbouring town Kırkağaç was shaken by a 4.1-magnitude quake. 16 minutes after the initial shock, Akhisar was again shaken by a 3.8-magnitude earthquake.
