Tunisia-President Kais Saied receives India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

President Kais Saied received Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at Carthage Presidential Palace.
During the head of the state communicated Tunisia’s predisposition, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, to enhance discussion with India on all matters relating to peace and security in the world.

The Head of State remarked on this occurrence that the principles of democracy, freedom and justice shared by the two countries permit them to perform an active part on the international scene to shield just causes, first and foremost the Palestinian cause and the right of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish a State following the resolutions of international legality.

Kais Saied also recollected the historic relationships connecting the two countries, praising the steady development of cooperation relations, emphasising the significance of the approaching session of the Joint Commission.

In this connection, he emphasised the value of the establishment of several Indian companies in Tunisia, dispatching Tunisia’s readiness to take more exceptional use of the immense potential of the Indian economy to expand bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially information and communication technology, scientific research and agriculture.

For his part, the Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar hailed the democratic experience in Tunisia, displaying his country’s readiness to further broaden the areas of partnership between the two countries and to take advantage of the chances granted in terms of investment and partnership. He also asserted his country’s intention to draw up a roadmap setting out the priorities for bilateral cooperation.
On another level, the Indian Minister of External Affairs affirmed India’s stand of principle for defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.
