Erdogan calls on Washington to end massacre in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Washington must bear historic responsibility for the Israeli attacks on Gaza and urged it to “fulfill its historic responsibilities to put an end to this massacre.”

In a recent statement, Erdogan stressed his discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden, stating, “I reminded the United States of its historic responsibility. I believe that the United States of America must bear historic responsibility in these Israeli attacks on Gaza, and they must assume their historic responsibilities, which are to stop this massacre in Gaza.”

He emphasized his concern that, instead of restraining Israel, the United States has, so far, encouraged. Erdogan pointed out that Israel, with the support and protection of the U.S., has not adhered to international law or human rights, asserting, “During our meeting with Biden, I reminded the United States of this historic responsibility and called on it to take the position that the whole world expects of it.”

Erdogan questioned, “How loudly should the world shout to stop Israel? Humanity has been saying ‘enough’ for weeks, whether at the United Nations level or in the squares of countries around the world. This cry found an echo outside the White House and even in the American Congress.”

He underscored that the United States must no longer ignore these calls, emphasizing that Israel’s actions are not just an assault on Palestinians and Gaza but an attack on humanity. Erdogan concluded by stating, “History will judge and condemn those who remain silent.”
