France -Cat tests positive for COVID-19

The Alfort Veterinary School announced this Saturday the first natural infection of a cat in France by COvid619, the cat was infected by its sick owner, as in cases reported by other countries, the Connexion news agency said.

In a statement, the institution placed on the outskirts of this capital announced that the detection was made by the mixed virological research unit, composed of several entities, including the Pasteur Institute.

As in the previous cases identified in the world, the cat lived with a person who was sick because of Covid-19,’ it said.

According to the school, a study with pets suggests that small cats do not spread SARS-CoV-2 easily, even when in contact with infected owners.
