Germany, Italy ban flights from S. Africa

Germany and Italy have decided on Friday to suspend flights from South Africa in order to stop the spread of the COVID-19’s newly-found variant.

The announcements were made by Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza , who issued a statement, and an unnamed German minister quoted by the Agence France-Presse.

“Our scientists are studying the new B.1.1.529 variant. In the meantime, we will adopt the greatest possible caution,” Speranza’s statement read.
