German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has been re-elected on Sunday and is set to serve another five-year term as the head of the continent’s biggest economy.
The election results, which were expected after Steinmeier received endorsement from major German political parties, were confirmed by Bundestag President Barbel Bas.
The position is widely considered to be mostly ceremonial.
