Haiti rocked by major 7.2-magnitude earthquake

An earthquake of a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 struck off the coast of Haiti on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the tremor was registered 12 kilometers northeast Saint-Louis du Sud at a depth of 10 km but was felt across the Caribbean.

No official data on possible casualties and damage have been released yet.
