Following the Vienna attack, the Austrian interior minister announced that ‘Heavily armed and dangerous’ terrorists are on the loose after the attack.
Shootings by various gunmen in a busy part of central Vienna have left at least one person dead and several others wounded. One suspect was also killed by police forces.
The attack began at nearly 19:00 GMT on Monday when numerous suspects loaded with rifles began opening fire in Seitenstettengasse, police stated. Shots were fired in “six different locations”, it added.
A large police operation was still ongoing, and authorities urged residents to stay away from all public places and not to use public transport.
