Human resources still constitute strong point in business climate (Survey)

 By:

A debate on “Business Climate and Competitiveness: Results and Methodologies” took place on, December 19, at the headquarters of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce, and Crafts (UTICA) in partnership with the Tunisian Institute of Competitiveness and Quantitative Studies (ITCEQ).

During the debate, participants underscored the importance of the event in shedding light on pivotal developments in Tunisia’s business climate. The stress was on the results of the 22nd survey on the business climate, as well as Tunisia’s positioning in international reports.

The survey highlighted diverse aspects, including the digitalization of administrative services, the country’s competitiveness, and the influence of the Russo-Ukrainian war on the entrepreneurial landscape. The war’s repercussions on vital products, such as food and energy, leading to significant price increases, were discussed.

The 22nd survey evaluated the business climate based on the perceptions of business leaders across 12 areas: infrastructure, human resources, macro-economic and legal framework, administrative procedures, judicial system, bank financing, taxation and social charges, market practices, political climate, corruption, security situation, and social climate.

According to ITCEQ, there was a considerable improvement in the perception of the “security situation” by business leaders. This area, which was the 3rd constraint in 2015, improved to the 10th position in 2022. This positive change reflects the efforts of the security system to restore stability in the country.

Although infrastructure and human resources stayed the best-perceived areas, there was a notable reduction in the perception indicator for human resources. The indicator dropped around 6.2 points from 74.9/100 in 2020 to 68.7/100 in 2022, indicating a loss of ground in this area for Tunisia.
