An explosion that happened on Tuesday at the hydroelectric power plant on Lake Suviana, located in northern Italy, between Bologna and Florence has left three people dead, three wounded and six missing, according to LaPresse citing Bologna prefecture sources.
The explosion occurred in a generator at level minus 9 under the water level where firefighters reported problems in accessing the premises. Local authorities have mobilized over 40 firefighters due to the significance of the power plant for the northern Italian region.
Enel Green Power, the owner of the facility, said “that it has promptly activated all necessary safety measures as per internal procedures to ensure the proper conduct of evacuation procedures to protect its personnel,” the media added.
