Indonesia’s Mount Marapi Volcano Erupts, Emitting Ash 3,000 Metres Into Sky

Sumatra, erupted, releasing a column of ash approximately 3km into the sky. This event prompted the evacuation of numerous hikers. Mount Marapi, standing at a peak of 2,891m, is currently at the third-highest alert level in Indonesia’s four-step system, leading authorities to establish an exclusion zone around its crater.

As of now, there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties resulting from the eruption at 2:54 pm. However, 42 hikers are currently unaccounted for, and authorities are actively monitoring and responding to the situation.
