The Iranian Foreign Ministry reported today, Saturday, the assassination of a workerof the Iranian embassy in Damascus, who was shot dead by armed groups in the Syrian capital.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated: “The employee, named Daoud Baytaraf, was one of the local cadres working at the Iranian embassy and was assassinated on December 15, when gunmen opened fire on his car in Damascus.
Baghaei emphasised the responsibility of the Syrian transitional government in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators of this crime, emphasising that the Iranian Foreign Ministry will seriously pursue this case through diplomatic and international channels to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.
