Italian translator bewildered by Donald Trump’s comments on sand and ancient Rome

An Italian translator at the White House seemed to have a stressful time translating US President Donald Trump’s recent press conference.

Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s translator had a look of confusion while taking minutes as Trump spoke. Her role during the press conference was to translate Trump’s statements into Italian to notify Mattarella of his comments.

While Trump spoke to media about sand in Syria and claimed the US and Italy have been partners since ancient Rome, the translator fought to hide her response to his comments.

Her facial expressions immediately became the talk of the press conference, with online commentators making jokes about the interaction.

The task appears to have taken somewhat of a toll on this translator, who looked perplexed to say the least while taking notes during a recent meeting between Trump and Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
