Italy has recorded 40,902 new coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, the health ministry said on Friday, taking the infection tally to 1.107 million.
The ministry also reported 550 COVID-related deaths, bringing the death toll to 44,139 since the beginning of the pandemic.
