Jail sentences against Makhlouf and Smara… PDL comments

The defense committee for the leader of the Free Constitutional Party, Abir Moussi, said in a statement on Thursday, March 27, 2025, that the jail sentences against the two former members of parliament from the dissolved parliament, Seifeddine Makhlouf (one year with immediate effect) and Sahbi Smara (six months), as well as a former MP from the Ennahda Movement (three months), were lenient sentences that do not match the severity of the crimes perpetrated and the circumstances surrounding the violent attack on their client on June 30, 2021, under the parliament dome. From their perspective, this is considered a case of flagrante delicto.

Thus, the committee decided to appeal these rulings within the legal deadlines and tasked one of its members with holding a press conference to inform the public about what they described as the “injustice and oppression” Moussi faced as the complainant, which deprived her of the right to receive a fair ruling and uncover the truth behind the organized crime committed against her, according to the statement.
