Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi (pictured) ordered the Russian consul in Sapporo to leave the country by October 10, the Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday.
The move comes after Russia expelled the Japanese consul in Vladivostok, Tatsunori Motoki, after arresting him over espionage allegations. At the time, Tokyo denied the accusations.
