Macron: 4 to 6 weeks before lockdown easing

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Monday for patience before the nation is able to ease coronavirus restrictions. He urged citizens to “hold on for four to six more weeks” as the spread of new COVID-19 variants remains a cause for concern.

Macron further ruled out changes to the curfew currently set at 7 pm. In the light of the rising number of cases in some regions, the government is considering tightening restrictions in a number of departments, including local weekend lockdowns.
