Macron proposes pact with Riyadh to mend Lebanon ties

French President Emmanuel Macron  announced on Saturday an initiative between France and Saudi Arabia aimed at resolving the spat between Lebanon and an alliance consisting of Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Riyadh.

Macron’s announcement came during his visit to the country, amid a rift which started by Lebanon’s information minister, George Kordahi, calling the UAE and Saudi Arabia “aggressors” in the Yemen war.

Kordahi later stepped down in what he described as an attempt to help Macron enhance the ties between Lebanon and the Gulf countries.
