French President Emmanuel Macron proclaimed on Monday an initiative for constitutional amendments which would involve climate preservation and the combat against climate change into the country’s constitution.
Macron intends to organize a referendum on the matter if the National Assembly and the Senate agree to approve the initiative. The announcement comes after the European Union agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% until 2030.
