European Council President Charles Michel emphasized that the Russia-Ukraine conflict affects the European Union and the United States differently.
In an interview with the Corriere della Sera newspaper, issued on Saturday, Michel pointed to the fact that the US is the world’s second-largest energy exporter and said the bloc risks an economic recession due to its sanctions on the Kremlin. He said the EU has a “heavy bill” to pick up and that its industries are stuck paying more for energy, while “countries like the US and Norway benefit from high energy prices.”
