Military: At least 12 killed in election day violence in Pakistan

At least 12 people, including military personnel, were killed and 39 others were wounded in 51 “terrorist attacks” during election day in Pakistan, the country’s armed forces said in a statement on Thursday.

“Through proactive intelligence manoeuvres and swift action, many potential threats were neutralized, underscoring the unwavering commitment of our security agencies to protect the democratic rights of our citizens. During various operations, 5 Terrorists were also killed,” the military stated, adding that 137,000 soldiers were mobilized to secure the vote across the country.
