The Moroccan foreign ministry released a statement on Sunday evening condemning “vigorously” the continued publication of outrageous cartoons against Islam and the prophet. The press release evokes provocations that have no place, denounces these acts and the immaturity of their perpetrators.
“The Kingdom of Morocco vigorously condemned, on Sunday, the continued publication of cartoons outrageous to Islam and to Prophet Mohammed, Blessings of God be upon him as well as peace’, reads a statement by the ministry.
“Freedom of expression can not, under any reason, justify the insulting provocation and the insulting offence of the Muslim religion which has more than two billion faithful in the world, the statement stated.
“As much as it condemns all obscurantist and barbaric violence allegedly perpetrated in the name of Islam, the Kingdom of Morocco stands up against these abusive provocations of the sacredness of the Muslim religion, notes the same source.
“The Kingdom of Morocco, like other Arab and Muslim countries, calls for stopping to stir up resentment and to demonstrate discernment and respect for otherness, as a prerequisite for living together and peaceful dialogue and beneficial to religions, ”the statement concludes.
