Moving to administration, obstacle to digitalization of administrative services

It appears from an analysis issued by ITCEQ on “the digitalization of administrative services in Tunisia: international ranking and perception of business leaders” that the move to administration represents an obstruction to the digitalization of several administrative services.

Despite the upward trend in companies’ usage of mandatory and non-mandatory online administrative services, feedback from business leaders indicates that the reasons for dissatisfaction are notably related to the problem of trust and the data security of certain online services, the complexity of digital platforms (CNSS remote declaration), the issue of network coverage and above all the unavoidable necessity in certain cases of travelling to the premises of the tax administration (electronic tax declaration, RNE, banking services and postal, online customs clearance, etc.).

According to the authors of this analysis, the major challenges to be met in terms of the digitalization of administrative services consist in particular of the elimination of physical travel and the simplification of IT platforms. “Strengthening data security and the quality of computer networks are also essential,” they advised.
