NASA launches most powerful space telescope

NASA launched on Saturday an Ariane 5 rocket carrying the $9 billion James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) into space from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana, South America.

The JWST is the largest and most advanced space telescope ever built. By completing this operation, NASA plans to use the telescope to study every phase of cosmic history, according to the official data.

The mission, planned for about 25 years, is jointly conducted by NASA, the European and Canadian space agencies.
