Nasal spray COVID-19 jab may arrive in autumn 2022

Laboratory Head of Russia’s Vector Institute, Rinat Maksyutov, confirmed on Monday that a COVID-19 vaccine in the form of nasal spray might become available by autumn next year.

“The nasal spray vaccine format is also being researched in many laboratories around the world today, but mostly in laboratory animals. Given the need for clinical research, I believe this is the prospect for next fall,” Maksyutov said in a live television broadcast.

Next to the Vector Institute, the nasal spray vaccine is also currently being developed by Russia’s Gamaleya Research Institute.
