The White House coronavirus task force warned of the occurrence of a new coronavirus variant in the United States that could be up to 50% more transmissible, NBC News announced on Friday quoting a task force document.
According to the document dated January 3, the recent spike in new virus cases in the US could be connected to this new strain.
“This acceleration suggests there may be a USA variant that has evolved here, in addition to the UK variant that is already spreading in our communities and maybe 50% more transmissible,” the report said.
